How our graduates are doing!
St. Dominic Elementary School student graduates consistently place in the tops of their classes, and in scholastic/academic and fine art competitions. Here are some recent accomplishments:
March 2009
Congratulations to Garrett Davidson, a 2007 St. Dominic School Graduate, who as a 7th Grader was selected to the Robinson Science Olympiad Team. The team came in 1st Place at the Regional Science Olympiad Tournament held Saturday, February 28 at ETSU. The team dominated the competition and earned twenty 1st Place and three 2nd Place Medals. They will now continue studying and practicing for the State Science Olympiad Tournament to be held March 28 on the campus of The University of Tennessee. Good Luck and Congratulations Garrett!
January 2009
Former St Dominic students (now 7th graders) Daniel Jernigan, Amber Kent,
and Brandon Sloan; and (now 8th graders) Sara Hrivnak and Emily Drozdowski make
the East Tennessee School Band & Orchestra Association upper Area Junior High Band
after auditioning on January 17th 2009. Special congratulations to Amber
Kent who received 1st chair of her section.
December 2008
Jessica Lloyd wins 2008 St. Dominic School Spelling Bee. Chrissy
Grammatikas & Jay Velasco placed 2nd & 3rd respectively.

Congratulations to William Lee, a former St. Dominic student. William, currently a 6th Grader at Colonial Heights Middle School, was the winner of a regional anti-nicotine poster contest. His winning entry will be displayed on an advertising billboard in three locations during the months of December, January, and February. Look along Fort Henry Drive and Highway 36 in Colonial Heights for his winning billboards!

D-B Student (also a St. Dominic School graduate) Places In Top Ten in State Math Competition

Dobyns-Bennett High School Student Amy Oreskovic recently placed as one of the top ten students competing in the University of Tennessee Pro2Serve Math Competition.
Oreskovic, a D-B sophomore and the daughter of Richard and Kathleen Oreskovic, competed with 550 students from throughout the state in the math event. As a top ten finisher, Oreskovic was awarded a four-year tuition scholarship to the University of Tennessee.
The University of Tennessee Pro2Serve Math Competition.promotes interest in
mathematics among Tennessee high school students and encourages students to
pursue careers in mathematics, science, and engineering.

Jorie Elizabeth Sullivan, St. Dominic School graduate (now a DB High
student), was named as a semi-finalists for the 2009 National Merit
Scholarship program. All together six Dobyns-Bennett (DB) High School
students were recognized in the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program:
Emily Ketterling Gall, Jorie Elizabeth Sullivan, Pieter Locke Valk, Kathleen Rachel Voegtli,
Jessica Lois Welch and Alice Xiang. These six students will compete
with the top high school students in the nation for some 7,000 Merit
Scholarship awards worth more than $33 million.

January 2008
Congratulations to our graduates Daniel Jernigan, Nicholas Schallon, and
Austin Lloyd who progressed in the Geography Bee competition at Robinson
Middle School. They were three of the four 6th Graders to share this
honor. Also congratulations to Samuel Brown and Garrett Davidson who were
two of the seven Robinson students to progress to the City-wide Spelling Bee
which will be held on February 11, 2008.
September
18th 2007
Congratulations go to three former students of Saint Dominic School: Nick
Schallon, Daniel Jernigan, and alternate Garrett Davidson! These 6th grade
students, along with 6 others from Robinson Middle, have been selected for
the Pre-Algebra Franklin Math Bowl Team. The team will compete in the
Franklin Math Bowl at East Tennessee State University on November 10th 2007.
May 2007
Former St. Dominic School student, Marci Elpers, graduates from Dobyns
Bennet High School, as one of the top 5 students in her class!
