Principal's Message

August 29th, 2017

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to a new school year! On behalf of all the faculty and staff of St. Dominic School, I welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year. We are glad you are here! The faculty and I look forward to working with you and to a successful school year with you and your child/children.

As educators, we are committed to engaging each child in his/her learning, and developing each child's potential and talents. We are partners in your child's education and together we share the same goal.

In order for your child/children (our children) to be successful they need support from home, school, parents, and teachers. Long before a student arrives at St. Dominic School, their day has already started. It starts with preparing for the next day the night before and for some, it can be overwhelming. Learning is a process--- preparing to learn is a skill.

Our lives are busy. Sometimes, we need to take a step back to see what is in front of us. We have to prioritize the importance of learning and the responsibilities that come with learning. There is a lot to do to prepare for a school day, and there is a lot to do at the end of a school day. Some thoughts/suggestions for parents and students for a good start are:

-Pack the school bag the night before
-Talk with your child about the school day
-Discuss how your child gets to school
-Discuss how your child gets home
-Get a good night's sleep
-Eat breakfast
-Arrive on time
-Complete assignments/homework
-Tell your child what is expected from him/her
-Set goals
-Celebrate successes, learn from challenges
-Communicate with teachers and administration

Each student will receive a copy of the up-dated 2017-2018 Student/Family Handbook. Knowing what is expected academically and behaviorally is a great place to start. please take the time to review it with your child/children, and return the acceptance form. If you, or your child, have questions about the student expectations of the handbook, I ask that you contact me to discuss.

Please know that the faculty and/or administration is available to meet with parent(s)/guardian(s) as needed or when requested. If at any time you have questions or concerns regarding your child/children, please contact the child's teacher or the Main Office. Your question or concern will be given to the teacher or to me. Please know that I am available to meet with students/parents when needed or requested.

The faculty, staff, and administration thank you for your dedication to Catholic education and to St. Dominic School. We look forward to a wonderful year...together.

Ever grateful,
Mr. Ralph A. Ciarroco
Principal
